1. Radically change your diet
There is a lot of documentation on the importance of diet in overcoming cancer. Most people recommend a focus on a predominantly if not exclusive alkaline diet. This is very hard to get to so, take a benchmark of where you currently are. You can do this in a number of ways but for ease, start with counting the types of food rather than how much of the diet. Having established your baseline, then set a goal of reducing acidic foods by 5% per week (or per month) until you get to 95% alkaline.
My recommendation is to get rid of Refined Sugar as fast as possible. Overtime your taste buds evolve and there are lots of sites that offer great ideas to make alkaline foods great. Giving up chocolate was hard for me, however I have found some Cacao based products that use dates as the sweetener. Dates are one of those items that sit on the mildly alkaline side of some charts or mildly acidic on others.
Read Dr Michael Greger’s - How not to Die: Discover the foods Scientifically Proven to Prevent and Reverse Disease. If you don’t want to read all the book, find the section that is closest to what your primary illness is, and get serious about what he suggests. There is almost too much information at his website Nutritionfacts.org
Each person will find it hard to give up on some of the things that they need to. Refined sugar is everywhere there is processed foods, but there are some brands that don’t use it, so find them and stock up. Of course, fresh is best, and organic if you can find and afford it.
Giving up grains can be hard, however there are some very good seed breads now. Once you have tried them and you’re used to it, it no longer becomes an issue.
Replacing meat with beans and tofu can be rewarding, but hard if you love your meat. I swapped meat for fish initially and then gradually ate less and less. I very rarely have the odd bit of fish but try to minimise that.
Getting rid of dairy is also hard. Coconut Milk and Coconut Cream has been a saviour for me. Almond Milk is also great. However, beware the commercial products to make sure that there isn’t added sugar. I can get a store brand of Coconut Cream that has no emulsifiers. This often means it is separated but can easily be reconstituted.
